2017 Oklahoma Reunion Information

Chapter 18 is looking forward to hosting the 2017 Reunion in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  To locate us, get a United States Map and look in the center, just above Texas and there is Oklahoma.

The 2017 Reunion will be a little different than others in that the registration fee is only $99.00 per person instead of the $173.00 per person.  This is restricting several things that have always been done.  We will not be having a “goodie” bag when you sign in.  The purpose is to lower the registration fee to encourage larger attendance. In the past, a lot of members complained that they didn’t want a t-shirt or a challenge coin or a coffee mug or a baseball cap, etc., so we have made those items optional for those that would like to purchase them in addition to the basic $99.00 registration fee.

We are leaving all day Friday for the Battalions to have their own thing and for the attendees to see the many sights in Oklahoma City.

·       I like the Cowboy Hall of Fame and the Oklahoma City Zoo.

·       There is a very “awakening” memorial to the Oklahoma City Bombing we had in the past, I am thinking most of you have heard of that.

·       We also have the place where the Olympic rowers train and where the Olympic kayak finals are held.  At that place, they have a fantastic water park that is un-like any in the United States.  If it is hot enough, you can do all sorts of things we did while on Active Duty.

·       And of course there is “Bricktown” a very popular complex of restaurants, bars, shops, etc., within walking distance of our anchor hotel. There is even a canal ride in boats.

·       Oklahoma City also hosts the Women’s College World Series yearly.  That is a fantastic place, and the teams might be there because the finals are the first week of June.

·       Then, there is the 45th Infantry Museum.  This is a great place that has many great exhibits.  That is the division that Bill Mauldin was with.  He is the guy that did the “Willie and Joe” cartoons.  They also were 1 of the 2 lead divisions of WWII that did all the fighting in the Italy Theater.  They were then activated for the Korean War and really took a beating.  Another great place.

We are working out the final details and our Webmaster Jerry Cooper will have them posted on the 173d Airborne Brigade Association web site as soon as they are completed.

All of us from Chapter 18 look forward to seeing y’all next May.  That is 17 May to 21 May 2017.  Please arrive on 16 May so you will be here for the entire event.

We are planning on going to Fort Sill Thursday and that will be an all day trip.  Working with Fort Sill and the bus owners here in the City.  Hope to have all that confirmed within a few weeks.

The Sheraton Hotel will be our anchor hotel.

The Registration Area, Hospitality Room, Meeting Rooms, and Vendors Area will be located on the 2nd floor of the Sheraton Hotel and the Banquet Room will be located in the Cox Convention Center across the street from both hotels.
